A lot can be said about the Nike Air Jordan 1. But the question on most people’s minds is: How did this shoe stand the tests of time. From its debut the Air Jordan 1 sneaker was known as a rebel shoe. Banned in 1985 by the NBA’s own David Stern for not detailing enough white, the sneaker was an immediate hit. Every game that Michael Jordan played wearing “the 1’s” he was fined $5,000. Nike used this as a genius marketing tool, explaining that the Nike AJ1 would give you an advantage in whatever you did . If you possessed the Nike Air Jordan 1, then you were said to have had a certain edginess like MJ himself.

Fast forward almost 28 years later and this cultural staple is still one of, if not one of the most iconic shoes to date. The 1’s have been seen everywhere, from Wall St. to the gritty neighborhood streets in other countries. The AJ1 success does not seem to be slowing down. The questions of why still remain… Is it the design? maybe the perfect blends of color? Is it the extreme comfort, combined with the structured silhouette of a basketball shoe? Either way the Nike Air Jordan 1 has had a great run, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for this great “staple” piece.
