Ralph Lauren Shawl Cardigan for 2014 Olympics

Ralph Lauren has unveiled his latest collection for the 2014 Sochi Russia Olympics. The collection definitely has a classic Ralph Lauren “Americana” winter feel. Out of all the pieces in the collection the piece that stood out the most was the shawl cardigan sweater. The cardigan has received a lot of criticism from everyone, but honestly who the hell cares?! The ABATHINGX team decided to make an appointment with our friends over at Ralph Lauren NYC to check out this piece of great American history for ourselves.

Ralph Lauren went above and beyond to make sure that these luxury items were 1,000% ALL AMERICAN MADE!! Another fantastic parts of this cardigan besides the patriotic color way is the amazing feeling and quality of this 100% US made wool knit. This nostalgic collectors piece is also very limited. Each piece is individually numbered on the inner tag. The fit of the cardigan gives a bit of drape and length which is reminiscent of an old school grandfather fit. Hopefully all of our Ralph Lauren collectors and fans will get a chance to appreciate a piece such as this in person for years and years to come.

Riccardo Tisci X Nike Collection Part1

Ricardo Tisci (creative director of Givenchy) has teamed up with Nike to give his interpretation on an old school classic sneaker. Apparently Tisci has signed on to do four pairs of sneakers with Nike. The R.T. Air Force pack will consist of four different styles/renditions of the street classic. Available in Lo, Mid, Hi & knee high Boot Tisci has definitely set the bar on urban footwear very high for 2014. This first collection of the white Air Force one sneakers should release on March 1st and the same collection in black should be releasing on April 1st. This Nike R.T. Air Force collection will be available at nike retailers nationwide

The New Dover Street Market New York City

Last weekend we visited the new Dover Street Market located on the corner of 30th street and Lexington Ave in NYC. For those who are not familiar, you very soon will be. DSM is a multilayer high fashion mega-market! Created by Rei Kawakubo who is also one of the driving forces behind Comme des Garçons. The store is unlike any other retail experience we’ve encountered. Carrying some of the most exclusive brands out today Dover Street offers a little something for everyone. Thom Brown, Rick Owens, Comme des Garçon Play, Simone Rocha, Prada and Moscot to name a few, DSM has brought the most creative out of all of these brands. Architecturally advanced are two words that come to mind when explaining how the interior of the market is set up. Each brand has there own individual mood set that separates the different styles based on each designers aesthetic. We encourage every age of appreciative high end shopper and art appreciator to stop by and partake of the Dover Street Market New York City.

Fashion News: Balenciaga

When hurricane Sandy hit in late October, the Balenciaga New York flagship in Chelsea endured heavy damages. The store is still temporarily closed for repairs. The label recently announced a 2,000-square-foot seasonal store on Wooster Street in Soho, that will launch in time to showcase the pre-spring 2013 collection.

Fashion News: Christian Louboutin Exhibition 2013

Any fashion or shoe enthusiast is familiar with Christian Louboutin’s iconic red sole. The designer’s work for the past 20 years will be showcased at Canada’s Design Museum in Toronto from June 21 – September 15, 2013. The exhibit will explore his path as a creative being with artistic inspiration drawn from all parts of life. “Be taken on a magical journey of style, glamour, power, femininity, and elegance”, is the slogan trailing the exhibit.

Style: The Prestige of Camo… in high fashion

Over the past couple of years camouflage has taken a spot all its own in the fashion world. But its grown to new heights in the upscale realm of fashion. Socialite and designer Sir Nick Wooster has been the Camo-man for years. Incorporating camouflage into his everyday clean suited looks. Now people like artist, designer and music producer Pharrell Williams have jumped into the upscale camo pool. Pharrell was seen wearing a custom camo jacket with black contrast lapel and below the knee shorts by Moncler Gamme Bleu.
camo_high_fashion Ronnie Fieg (owner of Kith NYC) has also been playing with camouflage in an upscale manner, on his new collaboration boot with Doc Martens. Ronnie mixes two tones of camouflage with ox blood leather on a six hole “Bowery Boot”. Honestly I am very intrigued and inspired by this new trend.
